Pyrocumulus Cloud at Halifax Explosion, presented at the NTSC

Thursday 6:30pm to 10:00 pm

Leon Matthys of the North Toronto Stamp Club curated an educative, interactive audio-visual presentation which recounts Canada’s least known and worst disaster on the eve of its 100 year anniversary.

Actual philatelic items, ephemera and postcards from the 5 panel social history project and exhibit of April 2015  were shown and discussed.  Some items on display too large for the exhibit were on hand for the curious. 

The story, from before the collision of the two ships; the huge explosion and its aftermath; to relief, recovery and reconstruction, were covered.  Q & A followed.

Note:  This was the last meeting before our summer break, we resumed regular meetings in September.
