One of Canada's top stamp columnists, Ian Robertson, who has been writing columns and occasional news stories for Canadian Stamp News since 1987, was our special guest and presenter this evening.

Tonight Ian gave a talk describing his aims and objectives in writing under various themes:

 Looking Back column about the subject on a Canadian stamp or stamps; often a

Stamping Grounds column which expanded an earlier youth/starting collecting column to include a wider variety of subjects related to our hobby, including occasional articles about stamps issued by other countries, plus anecdotal stories about people, places, and history;

occasional News Bites columns that combine subjects in the news with related stamps -- current events and occurrences; and, lastly,

occasional Pot Potpourri columns that include brief — usually unrelated — short philately-related stories.

Ian brought examples and shared some favourite stories, on how he does research, finds illustrations, consults specialists and, most importantly, seeks to entertain a wide variety of readers.
