Ken Snelson presented to us on the Novelty Postcards of the 1900's.Â
From about 1900, many cards were produced that stretched the limits of what could be sent at the postcard rate. The British Post Office rejected many of these and charged them as underpaid letters. All the items in this presentation were charged postage due but that is not the focus of the presentation.
We'll see many different examples of items that inventive minds tried to send as postcards: aluminum postcards, leather postcards, postcards with various attachments, postcards that are too big, too small, too thick etc. The messages will also be discussed where they add interest.Â
