We hope you virtually joined us this evening and enjoyed our special guest's (George Pepall FRPSC) presentation.

George presented on how a Canadian couple, Bob and Pat Pepall, maintained their relationship in World War II through one-way mail sent from various training sites in Canada and southern Britain.

Bob went overseas in late 1941, and returned in 1943 for a staff training course in Kingston, Ontario. No doubt, the flow of mail between Bob and Pat would have been greater, if she had his overseas addresses.

Of course, strict security did not allow it. The content of the letters has been destroyed.

Interesting features of the covers sent by Bob are the different forms of air mail, his consistent handwriting, Pat's careful dating and sequencing of letters received, the regularity of his mailings, the variety of paper in the envelopes, and the marcophilately, which the presenter is still investigating.
